Nullity of marriage

Annulment means that a valid marriage did not take place. A marriage may be declared null and void if any of the following circumstances exists: lack of consent, mental incapacity, legal incapacity, failure to comply with legal requirements and non-consummation. The rights of children are not affected by a declaration of civil nullity.
